The Stuck at Home Book Tag

Hey there!

Today I’m doing another tag, because they are fun and I’m running out of ideas on what to write about. I first saw this tag over at May’s blog, so be sure to go check out her answers as well!

THE RULES

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer all the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about, to do this tag
  1. WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

An Enchantment of RavensI have just started An Enchantment of Ravens, and by that I mean I’m still in the first chapter so I really don’t have anything to say about it yet. However, it has a gorgeous cover and I really like the premise. Besides, I read Sorcery of Thorns, by the same author, last month and I really enjoyed it, so my hopes are up.

  1. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE “CAN’T-LEAVE-THE-HOUSE” ACTIVITY?

Crochet, learn a new language & play animal crossing. I’ve made a crochet sweater and am almost finishing another one since quarantine started. It’s such a relaxing & rewarding hobby, you get to see your progress as you go and the wool is so soft. I’ve been trying to learn French on my own for a while now, but being inside all the time makes it so that I have no excuse but actually sit down and put in the work. Finally, playing ACNH has been literally keeping me sane while I can’t go outside. Everything is so adorable that I don’t mind at all having to stay in my room all day long.

  1. A BOOK YOU’VE BEEN MEANING TO READ FOREVER?

So many, but for this I’ll go with the whole The Illuminae Files trilogy. It’s one of my goals for this year to finally read these books because everyone seems to love them, and I’ve actually owned them for years now. I’m also very curious about the mix-media format, I’ve never read anything like that before so it should be interesting.

  1. AN INTIMIDATING BOOK ON YOUR TBR

40275288. sy475 The Priory of the Orange Tree for obvious reasons: being that this is a gigantic book and a high fantasy, so I’m super pumped to pick it up but also terrified it’s going to take me forever to read it all. Also, everyone seems to love so I’ve hyped it a lot in my mind and I’m afraid that when I do finally read it, it won’t be able to live up to all that.

  1. TOP 3 PRIORITY BOOKS ON YOUR TBR

Eliza and Her Monsters, The Starless Sea and Daisy Jones and The Six. They are all priorities not only because I’ve been looking forward to finally read them, but also because I own a physical copy of all of them and I’m trying to tame my physical TBR this year. What makes me super excited to finally read them is that I’ve heard so much about all three of them that I can’t wait to finally see if I’ll enjoy them for myself.

  1. RECOMMEND A SHORT BOOK

42201962The Deep by Rivers Solomon. This book is around 160 pages, so it’s very tiny, but it’s such an important story about trauma, memory, loss and identity. I just recently read it and absolutely adored it! If you like audiobooks, this one is narrated by Daveed Diggs and he’s fantastic at bringing this story to life.

  1. RECOMMEND A LONG BOOK

I’m not gonna lie, despite liking big books, they always intimidate me at first. One that I jumped into headfirst was Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I love the Shadowhunters world and characters, and this trilogy is by far Clare’s best one to date (in my opinion). Her writing keeps getting better with each book she releases, the plot of this trilogy is fantastic and all of the family dynamics had me laughing and crying and everything in between.

  1. SOMETHING YOU’D LOVE TO DO WHILE STUCK AT HOME

I actually made a list of all the things I want to do while stuck at home, but my top choices are to make a candle (as in reuse leftover wax from other candles to make a new one) & learn how to watercolor. I want to get at least decent at it, I love seeing other people’s art and it all just looks so pretty.

  1. WHAT DO YOU PLAN ON READING NEXT?

I still want to read The Girl Who Drank the Moon this month, but after that, I’d love to read You Should See Me In a Crown. The first one is a middle grade, and the other is a contemporary. Neither are my favorite or most-read genres, but I’m super excited to read them both. Also, I’ve heard nothing but great things about them.

I TAG…

What have you been doing while stuck at home?

Until next time,

juli

  1. Thanks for the tag (: I loved reading your answers to it and look forward to doing it myself. It sounds like you’re really creative with your hobbies and the activities on your wish list. I hope you manage to get into water colour and make a candle like you want to. I’ve never tried crochet but I have been tempted to get a cross stitch to try out. I used to do them but haven’t in years and now I’m kind of worried that I’ll have forgotten how to start :L
I hope you enjoy Sorcery Of Thorns. It sounds amazing and is on my TBR too (: Plus the cover is stunning like you said. Have you read any of Samantha Shannon’s other books? I hope you enjoy all of the books that you’ve mentioned. Most of them are on my TBR too and I’d definitely be interested in hearing what you think of The Starless Sea especially.

    1. Thank you 😊 I can’t wait to see your answers!
I try to keep things interesting by getting into varied activities, but after so long stuck inside it’s getting hard to keep the creativity flowing. I hope you pick cross stitching back up! I’m sure you’ll still have the hang of it and it sounds so fun.
I’ve actually never read a Samantha Shannon book before 🙈 Everyone is always raving about them, and I really want to read them eventually, but somehow I never get to it??
I can’t wait to read The Starless Sea! It sounds amazing and I really like Erin’s writing style. I’ll definitely read it before the end of the year, for sure.

Aww well I hope you manage to carry on doing things that you love (: and thank you. Fingers crossed anyway.
I hope you get to soon then! I’ve read the first couple of Bone Season books and really enjoyed them but still need to read one of them and Priory Of The Orange Tree. I’ve fallen majorly behind with my reading lately.
That’s wonderful to hear (: I hope you love it!! I’ve heard some fantastic things about it.

  2. Thanks for the tag, Juli! I totally agree with Priory of the Orange Tree, it’s so hyped, but the book also resembles a brick and it looks so intimidating. And making candles + learning watercolor sound really fun!

    1. I just read it and really enjoyed it! Not as much as Sorcery, but it was still pretty good and so aesthetic ✨ Margaret Rogerson really has a way with words
