Stay Home Reading Rush Tag

I’ve been reading more than ever this year and I couldn’t be happier. However, this whole quarantine situation has left me with zero motivation to keep reading and I can’t find anything to help me get back into the right track. That’s why I was so excited when I saw the video announcement for a small version of the Reading Rush readathon that will be taking place between April 16th-19th! The video explaining everything is here so you can check it out.

Of course, it will overlap with the O.W.L.s so I’ll still be reading books from that TBR, but I’m so excited! I hope this is what will give the push I’m needing to get back into reading. The reading challenges are very broad so I’m sure it’ll make it easier for anyone to participate, and you can also double up on challenges with the same book (very convenient if I say so myself). Here are the reading challenges for this readathon:

  • Read a book with a house on the cover.
  • Read a book in the same room the whole time.
  • Read a book set somewhere you wish you could go.
  • Read a book that will make you smile.

Along with the reading challenges, the video also posed some questions that I’ll be answering next:

How is your reading going while staying home?

It was going pretty great, but after being on lockdown for over a month it has definitely taken a hit. Now I’m barely reading at all.

Where have you been reading at home?

Mostly at my room. I’ve just rearranged the furniture and it feels like a completely new space. I’m in love.

17699853Best book you’ve read during isolation?

Tough question. I’d probably have to say Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare. I fell in love with the characters and despite it being a thick book, I read it in 3 days.

What’s your favorite feel-good book?

I love cutesy contemporary novels that make me laugh, but the ultimate comfort reads for me are rereads of my favorites: any Harry Potter book, The Infernal Devices trilogy, any Percy Jackson book (I’ve been rereading these and they are marvelous) or Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.

Book you wish you could buy or borrow from the library? 44778083

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. I bought it online (it was a preorder actually) but it couldn’t get here before the lockdown went into place and now I have no idea when I’ll be able to finally read it. It was one of my most anticipated reads too.

Author you want to shout out during this time?

I just started reading Taylor Jenkins Reid this year but she’s quickly become one of my favorites. Highly recommend her books. Also, Rick Riordan because rereading his books made me appreciate his work so much more.

17234658What is your Reading Rush TBR?

I have no idea how much I’ll be able to read. Realistically, I haven’t been reading much so I’m afraid the most I’ll manage will be just 1 book, if even that. I’ll strive for completing a novel anyway. My pick is A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray. It’s also on my O.W.L.s TBR so yay for multitasking.

That’s it for this tag. I hope you’ll join this readathon as well! If you do, please let me know so we can encourage each other.

Until next time,

  1. Omg yes, Chain of Gold has hands down been one of my fave reads this year – I love all the characters so so much 😭I totally agree with comfort reads – although I get the warm fuzzies reading YA contemporaries, I definitely turn to well-loved series when I need a feel-good read!
