Hello everyone, and welcome back to my blog!
As I’ve mentioned before, my country has been in lockdown for the last couple of weeks, and this will continue to be so for at least another couple of weeks. That means I’ve been spending all my time at my house. I know that many people are at the same place as me, so I thought it would be great to share with you the top 7 things that haven been making this time a little better for me.
A little disclaimer first: I’m aware that I’m incredibly lucky. I’m staying with my family in a comfortable house, we have everything we need and everyone is healthy. A lot of people can’t say that. So i’m very grateful, and trying to help others as much as possible given the circumstances.
Ok, now let’s jump straight into my top 7!
-
My pets
Not everyone has pets at home, but I’m super lucky and I have a bunch! And by that I mean a dog, 2 cats, 2 turtles, 2 budgies and my sister has 2 axolotls that are adorable. During this stressful time, it’s been amazing to spend some extra time with my pets. They are all super excited that everyone is staying at home, so we get to pet them and play with them all the time. Animals are amazing and make life 100% better. If you can, use this time at home to give your pets some extra love. I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.

Exercising
Being stuck at home for so long has made me a bit stir crazy. It has also made me more anxious, and some days are truly terrible. Exercising has been helping me to spend some extra energy and feel more accomplished. I know it’s not the same for everyone, so what I’d recommend is to find some physical activity that makes you feel better. I’ve been practicing yoga and doing some cardio, but go for whatever makes you happier.
-
Crochet
Use this time to get into some new hobbies, or to pick back up some old ones that you didn’t have the time to before. I started crocheting last year, but now I’ve picked it back up and it’s been helping so much! The repetitive movements are very relaxing, and being able to see and feel my progress is very satisfying. I’ve been making my first ever jumper and I couldn’t be more excited!
-
Audiobooks
Despite loving to read, I haven’t been able to physically read anything for a while now. I’m not sure why, but I have no motivation to read even though it helps me a lot and I miss it. So instead, I’ve been listening to audiobooks. Especially while crocheting, it’s such a great combo! I’ve already gushed about audiobooks before, so instead of repeating myself I’ll just leave a link to that post here.

ASMR
I’m very late to the party, but I’ve just discovered ASMR channels on youtube and I’ve fallen in love. Sometimes, when I don’t feel like listening to audiobooks, or I’m doing something that requires more attention, I love to put on some cozy ASMR video to keep me company while I work. It’s great and I have no idea why it’s taken me so long to try it. I especially love Harry Potter or LoTR themed ones, and I even made a playlist with a bunch of them. Couldn’t recommend enough.

The bookish community
During isolation time, it’s so easy to feel lonely. So I couldn’t be more grateful for this amazing community. I’ve been more active on instagram, talkinging to new people and getting more involved. I’ve been watching some reading vlogs and they have been so cozy and calm lately. Everyone is so sweet and supportive! Thanks to the internet, being stuck at home doesn’t mean that you can’t make new friends in the meantime. .

Cozy videos
This has a bit to do with the last item, but watching cozy & calming youtube videos have been making my days so much better. The news are everywhere and they are always terrible. To get away from that, I’ve been more conscious of the content I consume and watching videos that make me feel good. Reading vlogs and art videos are a big part of that. They’ve been helping a lot.
And that’s it for my top 7! If you have anything else that you like to do to make this quarantine more bearable, please let me know in the comments down below. Stay safe, healthy and happy and don’t forget to wash your hands!
Until next time,
I love having more time to be creative. I can write more, draw more, and make more music. It’s really peaceful sometimes.
