Hi there! Today, I’ll be doing a tag focused on the books that I want to read (I really do), but somehow always get pushed back on my TBR. There are so many! That’s what happens when you want to read all the books but only have limited time to do so.
Thank you so much Sophie for tagging me! Make sure to check out her answers, she had some great ones!
- Link back to the original tag (this post, and Jami!)
- Complete the questions with books you want to have read but don’t want to read
- Tag some people at the end to do the tag next
A book that you feel you need to read because everyone talks about it
Everyone and their mothers have read and loved Illuminae. And I’m pretty curious about it, the format looks amazing and the authors are great. But it’s also kind of out of my reading comfort zone, so I still haven’t read it (even if I already own the whole trilogy).
A book that’s really long
A Game of Thrones is a beast, as well as every other book in this series. I was supposed to read it before I watched the show, but now even the show is over and I still haven’t picked up the first book ~sighs~
A book you’ve owned / had on your TBR for too long
As the second book in a very popular series, I’ve owned Crown of Midnight for what feels like forever, but somehow I still haven’t read it. The series is concluded, I’ve been spoiled for most of the major plot twists, but I’d still like to read this entire series someday. I quite enjoyed book 1.
A book that is ‘required’ reading (eg, school text, really popular classic – something you feel obligated to read!)
I love Jane Austen, and have read quite a few of her books, but I never got to Sense and Sensibility. I have it, and it’s a very pretty edition too, but it just never called to me. Maybe I’ll get to it someday.
A book that intimidates you
A Discovery of Witches is a pretty popular book and it sounds amazing. There even is a tv show with some great actors! It sounds right up my alley with all the witches & vampires, but it’s such a favorite of so many people that I’m intimidated by it. Does that even make sense?
A book that you think might be slow
I’ve never read Laini Taylor. I know, it’s crazy. And I’ve owned Strange the Dreamer for years now, but I’m always afraid of picking it up because even if the premise sounds very interesting, it also looks like a very slow book. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I always think when I look at it.
A book you need to be in the right mood for
Call Down the Hawk was one of my most anticipated releases last year, but Maggie’s books always feel so autumn-y like to me that I have to be in a certain mood to read them. And right now it’s way too hot outside to pick it up. I’m sure it’s a great book and it deserves the best vibes while being read.
A book you’re unsure if you will like
Veronica Roth’s Carve the Mark is very pretty, and I like her writing styles, but when this book came out a lot of people were upset about it. Apparently, there were some issues with racism that were picked on by some readers and even though I had already bought the book, it made me reluctant to read it. This is not something I’d like to read.
That’s it for this tag! It made me really stare at my shelves and now I’ve realized my TBR pile is about to crush me. Oh well, at least books are pretty 🤷♀️
I’m tagging you to do this tag! You should give it a go, it makes you rethink a lot of your life choices 😂
Until next time,
